Review: Clif Bars
You Can't Eat That does not receive any endorsements from manufacturers or retailers of products. I choose to test these products for my own use and describe my personal experiences and opinions of them. I cannot count the number of times I have walked into a grocery store and looked at the protein and meal replacement bars and wished I would be able to eat them. I'm not sure if it's because I live in Canada and we receive products a lot later than stores in America, but in the last few months I have been discovering Clif Bars. Created by a rock climber and named after his father, they wanted to create a protein/energy bar that was better than all the others.
And these energy bars, best of all, come in two flavours that do not contain eggs or nuts! I could not even believe it. And these bars are so filling. They use 70 per cent organic ingredients and 23 vitamins and minerals to create a really thick bar that is easily packable.
The first flavour I can eat is Chocolate Chip, and it really tastes like a regular chocolate chip cookie; it is absolutely delicious. These bars are also more moist than a traditional granola bar or a cookie and are quite chewy. But I think the extra work chewing is worth it, the bars feel light and sit easily in my stomach.
I can not say enough about the Cool Mint Chocolate flavoured bar! It honestly tastes like I'm eating candy or cookies. I know this can't be entirely healthy for me, but I've come to the conclusion that an entirely healthy protein or granola bar is very hard to find.
I think that Clif Bars are a great alternative to the traditional nut and egg filled protein bars traditionally found at the grocery store. It makes me really happy to see that companies are trying to expand their product lines and are becoming more open to embracing the challenges a shopper with food allergies has to face.
How about you guys, are there any protein or granola bars you've found that are great for people with food allergies?
